A Battered Spouse Petitions under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) is a way for a spouse or child who has been the victim of domestic violence to retain his or her status in the U.S., and eventually still be eligible for citizenship. This petition is also available to men who have been victims of domestic violence.
